Thought for the Day-

I wonder what would happen if only a small portion of the money used for the Federal space program went toward research on cancer and other deadly diseases instead?

That's great that we can go to outer space but wouldn't it be nice to cure more deadly and debilitating diseases like MS etc??

What do you think?

I don't think we need to be in space right now. I mean, yeah it's a race and all that, but we have too many problems on earth right now to deal with. I agreee with you. Put the money to better use now.

Many medical breakthroughs have come from research thru the space program!

Thanks Dana for your comment and thanks to "purple penguin" for your comment. I'm curious on what medical breakthroughs you refer to that have come from the space program. Please let me know.

I don't think we should give up on the space program but I think we need to prioritize federal money to be spent on more research-period. This is only one example.

Thx again for taking the time to give your input!!

Purple Penguin - Name one. It's one things to make blanket statements claiming that medical discoveries result from the space mission, but I want proof. If this is so, it probably came as a "side-effect" of the space program and could probably have been discovered a lot cheaper directly through medical research.
